Marquetery is the assembling of different little pieces which give a decor, each piece is cut by hand, in different precious wood (rose wood, ebony…) and shadowed in warm sand to give them some relief before glueing with natural glues (fish or bone glue….)on the frame of the piece of furniture.
Marquetry is a difficult art because the techniques and wood are various. It needs an excellent “savoir-faire” from the past centuries.

Considered as true master pieces, the Boulle marquetry comes from a man called André Charles Boulle cabinet maker appointed by Louis XIV.
Furniture in that style is made with tortoise shell and metal, cut by superposition which gives different aspect according to the assembling.
